China Labor Watch Receives $30,203 from CREDO for factory investigations

Monday, October 16, 2017

China Labor Watch (CLW) announced today that it received $30,203 from CREDO to support CLW’s investigations into supplier factories in China. Since 1985, CREDO has raised over $83 million for non-profit groups who are working towards social change.

CLW has conducted dozens of investigations into the factories for some of the largest multinational brand companies. CLW is grateful for the support from CREDO, and the funding will be directly used to fund factory investigations, which have helped shed light on the labor rights violations occurring in supply chains in China.

CREDO mobile nominated CLW as one of three grant recipients in August this year to receive funding for its factory investigations. CREDO customers then helped decide the amount of money each nonprofit would receive by voting online.

Previously, CLW received $42,027 from CREDO to support the organization’s programs, which include assistance to workers, CLW’s worker hotline, and efforts to increase transparency of supply chain labor violations through investigations. In 2013, CREDO and its Action Members helped successfully pressure Western Union to unblock CLW’s wire transfers to China to fund its work.

CREDO has funded groups such as Planned Parenthood, Rainforest Action Network, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the ACLU amongst other organizations who are fighting for progressive change.
