Foxconn Responds to ACFTU Criticism
Wednesday, February 4, 2015
Foxconn has responded to criticism from the ACFTU regarding its overtime policy in a public statement issued on February 4. Foxconn claims that it, along with the entire manufacturing industry, faces a dilemma in balancing workers’ desire to put in significant overtime hours with state laws and regulations setting limits on the same. It further expressed surprise that the ACFTU would use the 2010 suicides to criticize Foxconn over its overtime policy and cast doubt on the ACFTU General-Secretary’s understanding of opinions on overtime among Foxconn’s workers. Foxconn invited the ACFTU’s General-Secretary to make personal inspections of Foxconn’s factories in order to gain a better understanding of the conditions there.
